Bubbles

Create a fun random background that can look like it is underwater and other effects.

Step 1

Create your mixture in a bowl:

bullet1 Tablespoon of liquid dish soap
bullet2 Tablespoons of underglaze - a darker color works best
bullet4 Tablespoons of water

Step 2

Thoroughly mix the mixture using a brush or spoon.  The brush helps keeps the underglaze from settling as much - which it will do.

Step 3

Blow into the mixture through a straw under the surface of the mixture while stirring with the brush or spoon, making a mound of bubbles.  You may wish to gently bring some of the liquid from the bottom of the bowl over the bubbles to get a deeper color.

Step 4

Gently move the bubbles over your piece as desired being careful to not have drops of underglaze being on the bubbles - these will make spots on the piece eliminating the effect of the bubbles.  Some people use a spoon to move the bubbles, some use their hands and some place their piece directly into the bubble mound.

Step 5

Once you have applied a healthy amount of bubbles on your piece leave to dry naturally.  Using the hair dryer not only makes a big mess but also destroys the effect.

Step 6

The glaze we apply sometimes does not adhere as well as normal due to the dish soap so we often must fire your piece more than one to achieve the best effect.
